Speaking and listening - group

Disaster relief in Pakistan

Synopsis

This lesson requires students to participate effectively in group discussion, making contributions in character and taking other speakers' views into account. The lesson focuses on a role-play about resource allocation for the humanitarian aid effort which followed the earthquake in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in 2005. Students are required to engage in a decision-making exercise in their groups, before presenting to the class. Lesson content could represent the group interaction component of students' Speaking and Listening coursework.
